Shetal Desai has been an outpatient Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist for 14 years and is also a positive discipline parenting educator.
She currently has a virtual private practice. She is bilingual and is fluent in Hindi. She enjoys working with participants directly, as well as, creating useful resources for their learning.
Her specialty is glucose pattern management and its interpretation. She stays current with diabetes care technology and is well versed in glucose sensors and insulin pump therapy.
Shetal firmly believes in the concept of connect before correct and values wholesome, individualized, non-judgmental care.
She is an avid believer in motivational interviewing to empower and encourage participants to make sustainable behavioral changes.
She focuses on lifestyle modifications around nutrition, physical activity, sleep and stress management. She teaches plant based meal planning and food as medicine based on Ayurvedic Nutrition(Eastern medicine).
Besides diabetes education, Shetal is passionate about family, maternal and child nutrition. She believes that chronic conditions such as diabetes,
hypertension and heart disease can be prevented and/or the risk can be reduced when lifestyle habits are manifested and rooted at an earlier age.
She is a member of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists and American College of Lifestyle Medicine.
She has a 3-year-old, full of life son, who teaches her the joy of being in the present. She is blessed with a close-knit family and family of friends.
She enjoys writing poems, practices yoga and meditation, being out in the sun, cooking and trying new recipes with her husband.
