Kathy Toscano-Smith, FNP-C, CDCES I am an FNP-C, CDE and have been practicing in diabetes for 28 years. I started in diabetes after going through gestational diabetes, when I was an RN working in the ER with my first pregnancy. After having my healthy baby, I went to work in diabetes and I have made it my personal mission to avoid Type 2 Diabetes and it has been a challenging 28 years in doing so! I returned to school to receive my NP license so I could better serve the community that I grew up in. I am bilingual and passionate about education for those with diabetes whose access to health care is difficult due to language and socio-economic issues to live healthy lives without complications from diabetes. My personal hobbies are walking, eating as healthy as possible, learning new activities for exercise which, currently is pickleball - lots of fun and great exercise. I enjoy traveling and the challenge of eating healthy and exercising while traveling.
